A Day in the Studio: Suki's Shadowing Experience with Jo Bregazzi and the SKARBLEND® Technique

We’re excited to share a bit about Suki’s recent experience shadowing Jo Bregazzi at The SKARBLEND® Academy. Suki, a talented medical tattoo specialist, joined Jo for two shadow days, eager to observe, refine her skills, and share insights in the unique art of scar camouflage and skin tone blending. This visit wasn’t only about learning Jo’s SKARBLEND® technique but also a rich exchange of knowledge between two skilled artists passionate about helping others through medical tattooing.

During her time shadowing, Suki watched Jo’s precise, intentional process unfold as she worked on clients using her specialised SKARBLEND® method. This technique requires an intuitive understanding of colour theory and texture, and Suki was able to see first hand how Jo chooses and applies pigments to create a natural, seamless look. Observing Jo’s careful layering and blending approach helped Suki deepen her understanding of the subtleties involved in matching tones with existing skin, which is so crucial to creating an effective camouflage.

Beyond observing Jo’s technique, these shadow days gave Suki and Jo a valuable opportunity to share their own experiences in the field. As they discussed their challenges, client stories, and breakthroughs, they exchanged ideas on everything from advanced colour correction to managing client expectations and helping them feel comfortable in the studio. Both artists are deeply committed to ensuring that each client feels seen and supported throughout their journey, and they found common ground in their compassionate approach.

Jo was also able to share insights on recent advancements and nuances within the field of medical tattooing, offering Suki fresh perspectives and techniques to consider in her own practice. The days were filled with learning and discovery, as each artist contributed her unique perspective, lifting each other up in an industry where continuous learning is so essential.

We’re grateful to have had Suki join Jo in the studio for these inspiring shadow days, and we look forward to seeing how she continues to implement the skills and insights she gained. At The SKARBLEND® Academy, we believe in the power of collaboration, mentorship, and shared experience to continually raise the standard of care in scar camouflage and medical tattooing. Thank you, Suki, for being part of this journey with us!
